Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
Mid Peninsula Service Unit 389 supports and organizes activities for Girl Scout Troops in San Mateo and Foster City. In addition to this website, Service Unit wide updates are also communicated through our Google Group and private Facebook page. Feel free to contact us with questions or to request access to our private google group by email: su389 @ scoutsnorcal.org (copy and remove spaces around @ )
Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.
We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.
We welcome any interested volunteers to participate in the Service Unit Team to help support and bring events and programs to our Scouts! We try to plan one event per month for Scouts to learn new skills, meet new friends, catch up with old friends and have fun.
Just like you, we are Girl Scouts AND so much more.
Liz has been a Girl Scout since she was in kindergarten. She currently leads a troop of 4th grade Juniors from 8 different schools. She has a law degree with a focus in public interest law, a B.A. in Spanish & Portuguese + Anthropological Sciences, and a passion for Gilbert & Sullivan operettas. When she is not volunteering, you can find her obsessing about plants, dancing, or reading a book.
With a rich background as a Girl Scout herself, Heather brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her volunteer work. She is a dedicated leader for two troops, guiding youth at every level from Daisies to Seniors. Heather's love for the outdoors, her expertise in cookie sales, and her commitment to helping girls achieve their goals are evident in everything she does.
She is a constant presence at troop events and overnights, and her leadership extends to organizing larger Camporees and camps. Heather is a true champion for the youth, continuously supporting them in their pursuit of leadership and higher awards. She is always eager to share her extensive Girl Scout knowledge with everyone.
Anne just retired from leading Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador GS troops for 20+ years. She loves the older girls - best time to be a Girl Scout!
Anne loves camping and is ready to share tips for working with girls, camping locations, cooking at camp, etc.
Anne's degree is in mathematics. She works at tutoring high school mathematics and some independent contract work editing math stuff. She is also willing to balance the checkbook for the service unit.
Katie currently leads a troop of 7th grade Cadette’s who, just like her, love to help others. Katie has a degree in Finance, but after spending one too many years in the corporate world she has finally found her calling as an Elementary School Librarian. She enjoys volunteering, coaching sports, pickleball, being in the outdoors, and her many pets.
Nina has been involved in Girl Scouts with her 2 daughters since 2013. She has been a Troop Cookie Manager for both her girl’s troops for over 10 years.
She joined the SU in 2024 as the Fall and Cookie Program Advisor.
In addition to my day job and Girl Scouts, I work at the box office at Hillbarn Theater. My daughter and I love theater!

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God*
and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by
the Girl Scout Law.
* The word "God" can be interpreted in a number of ways. When reciting the Girl Scout Promise, it is OK to replace the word "God" with however one's own beliefs dictate
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for
what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
